Canada Research Chair in Cell and Molecular Cardiovascular Biology Tier 1 or Tier 2
The Department of Biology at York University is seeking applicants for a tenuretrack appointment at the rank of Assistant to Associate Professor Tier 2 or Associate to Full Professor Tier 1 with a Canada Research Chair CRC appointment in Cell and Molecular Cardiovascular Biology tomence July 1 2014. A successful Tier 1 CRC candidate will be an outstanding researcher who is acknowledged by hisher peers as a world leader in their field has a superior record of attracting and supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and will propose an original and innovative research program. A successful Tier 2 CRC candidate will be an excellent and emerging worldclass researcher who demonstrates the potential to achieve international recognition in their field. The Tier 2 CRC applicant is expected to propose an original and innovative research program and have the potential to attract excellent trainees. The successful candidate must be eligible for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Research interests in cardiovascular biology at York University include cellular regulation of cardiac remodeling and myocardial function in heart disease developmental biology cardiac electrophysiology vascular biology and angiogenesis. The department is particularly interested in candidates applying state of the art molecular and cell biological or integrative approaches to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular physiology and disease. The applicant is expected to contribute and enhance the research activities and institutional programs in the Department of Biology and Faculty of Science to participate as an active member in the Muscle Health Research Centre and to interface with the Faculty of Health. The incumbent is expected to provide leadership at the departmental and institutional level and take a collaborative approach to their research. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biology or a related discipline. The candidate will be required to work with the Department and the Office of the VicePresident Research and Innovation to prepare the formal CRC nomination.
