Project Risk Manager

Job Summary

The position of Project Risk Manager will report to the Senior Project Manager and be responsible for the overall definition implementation and execution of the project's Risk Management Plan. The objective of the Risk Management Plan is to pursue and deliver business value by minimizing the impact of risks and maximizing the benefits of opportunities to the Riyadh Metro project.



  1. Execute the project management process for Riyadh Metro project with the approval of the Senior Project Manager


    • Coordinates and facilitates Risk Identification phase workshops and a continuous process of risk status review

    • Facilitates the project management team to fully assess quantify and prioritize risks

    • Coordinates prioritized risk reviews and a response planning meeting cycle to minimize risk and maximize opportunities

    • Conducts continuous surveillance of all concerns and risks for changes in status.

    • Provides the Senior Project Manager and the Project Management Team with reports and dashboards concerning risks responsibility for risks timelines for action quantification of risk and health of the Risk Management Process

    • Works with Project Controls on quantitative risk analysis develops quantified risk information that allows Project Controls to combine the probability distributions of individual risks to create a risk reserve calculation to a confidence limit and works with the project Planners on riskadjusted schedule modeling

    • Ensures timely closure of risks


      1. Creates and maintains Riyadh Metro project risk register using Active Risk Manager ARM software and associated dashboard reporting

      2. Develops promotes and devolves use of ARM within project management team through delivery of risk management training and support programs

      3. Interfaces with Project Controls and the Cost and Trend Engineer as required

      4. Supervision of Risk Coordinators

      5. Coordinates project Risk Management process with client Risk Management process as required
        Primary Responsibilities


        1. Executes the project risk management plan and any customer defined standards on behalf of the Senior Project Manager

        2. Becomes proficient in Active Risk Manager ARM to an advanced level includes preparing reports from ARM standard report suite.

        3. Executes a monthly risk management workcycle as defined in the Riyadh Metro Risk Management Plan

        4. Provides project execution risk management status to Senior Project Manager
          Qualification Requirements


          • College degree in a technical scientific or other numerate subject ideally in engineering

          • At least three years of project experience ideally in project risk management if not preferably in an execution facing role e.g. project manager trend engineer construction manager ESampH supervisor field engineer

          • Proven ability to disseminate train deploy and implement processes ideally of project risk management processes in the Rail Metro sector and apply process improvements as needed to effectively achieve project execution goals and objectives including obtaining buyin and commitment from peers and senior staff

          • Demonstrates judgment organization planning oralwritten communication and analytical skills and ability to prioritize.

          • Demonstrates knowledge in identifying analyzing and prioritizing risks related to project execution and leading efforts to create and deliver response plans to reduce the probability or impact of a risk

          • Knowledge and ideally experience of standard risk identification techniques and probabilistic risk analysis methods

          • Anticipates and recognizes risks and is familiar with typical risks related to the Riyadh Metro project and is able to prioritize those risks with respect to the project objectives

          • Understands specific or unique functional activities that can be applied to handle risks knowing where those skills and resources reside and how to engage them

          • Demonstrates ability to incorporate risk information and risk response plans into cost and scheduling and trend activities of other project planning disciplines to ensure effective budgeting and tracking

          • Demonstrates proficiency with Excel Word PowerPoint
            Competencies


            • Able to be a highlevel facilitator of meetings and to elicit information from all levels and functions of project delivery including direction of individuals towards constructive methods of information gathering.

            • Ability to manage a monthly cycle of interaction review and information gathering at all levels and functions of project delivery and provide structure and leadership against competing project time demands and people with challenging work requirements.

            • A good understanding of the roles and interfaces required among all levels and functions of project delivery and can provide recommendations for channeling resources and efforts where the project would benefit the most.

            • Able to prepare risk reports and analysis covering the entire scope of project activities that will be subjected to highlevel scrutiny from customers project managers and corporate line involvement.

            • A good understanding of the mechanics of risk statement drafting cause and effect gathering and able to transform this information into the basis for action and improvement of project outcomes using available project tools and methods.
