Chief Accountant

A chief accounting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of AIC' organization accounting function. This includes everything from regulatory compliance with accounting standards and practices to working on developing financial strategies for the company. This position often reports to top level management and requires extensive experience. This person can set and enforce accounting policy, in addition to working with other departments to develop positions on best practices throughout the organization. Reports from the accounting department are checked over by the CA before being submitted to other departments of the company for review. The CA is accountable to auditors and financial regulators. Maintaining accurate and detailed financial records is a critical part of this job. If accounting questions develop, the chief accounting officer is the first person consulted. General CA Responsibilities: • Reports directly to management and interfaces directly with other senior management team members, board of directors, advisors and shareholders or investors • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company procedures • Issues timely and complete financial statements. • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports • Assures compliance with government and corporate policies, regulations and laws • Researches and analyzes accounting matters • Evaluates current accounting practices and policies and drives continuous improvement • Prepares work papers and supporting schedules for the annual financial review • Prepares financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position. Ensures integrity of all financial information. • Coordinates monthly closing process • Develops and implements various accounting procedures • Works with both internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits • Develops, implements and upgrades financial systems and controls
