INFORMATION ABOUT EMPLOYER: THE CAMALI STORY: Psychiatrist Wife + Husband + Friends + Psychiatric Nurse = Camali Clinic. That is how our journey began. Omar Mehanna, a banker guilt ridden by his lack of social contribution was intrigued by his wife's, Dr Nadia Dabbagh’s, profession as a child and adolescent psychiatrist and the nature of fragmented mental health care in the UAE and the region. The vision was to establish a centre of excellence providing truly multi-disciplinary holistic child and adolescent mental health services. Camali' comes from the Arabic word for 'completeness' to reflect this approach. The proposition was promptly embraced by others with similar mind sets, Ayman Abdel Hadi and Maher Mansour, and a Maudsley-trained psychiatric nurse manager Katie Laing who was working in Dubai. Collectively Camali Clinic was brought to life. We are very proud of our team and are confident of their abilities to make the Camali Clinic vision come true. We are very grateful to Sandy Attia at Modus Architects and to our building contractors, Joseph Charles and his team at Pinnacle Interiors, who have worked tirelessly to build what we believe is a unique site in Dubai and the UAE. We have a clear picture of where we are heading on our journey. We intend to provide a world class service and overcome the barriers and social stigmas surrounding mental health. That's our role. WHO DO WE TREAT? We treat children and young people between the ages of 0 and 18 years old with a range of emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties. WHAT KIND OF CASES DO THEY SEE? Behavioral disorders. Learning difficulties. Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)Bipolar Affective Disorder (BAD). Psychotic disorders. Psychosomatic disorders. Feeding, eating and sleeping disorders (including Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia). For some conditions, particularly global learning difficulties and severe ASD, we may recommend referral to specialist centres who are able to provide the necessary more intensive interventions. However, we can still see the young person and his/her family to address additional mental health needs and to offer support and advice. DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING CENTRE: Camali Clinic recognises that education and learning are a critical aspect of young people's development and mental health. The Developmental Training Centre provides intensive treatment and support for patients between the ages of 5 and 18. The young people attending this programme may be experiencing mental health difficulties significant enough to result in prolonged absences from school. The comprehensive programme offers an environment that individualizes the needs of each young person utilizing the benefits of individual treatment, group therapy and educational assistance and support. Groups conducted include process group therapy, social skills and goal setting. Topics covered include psychoeducation, relapse prevention, self-esteem, managing emotions, communication skills, relaxation, problem solving and relationship building. Specific skills can be developed such as handwriting, IT, study and reading skills.
