1.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbsp Job Purpose

The Ophthalmologist should assess and examine patients in order to make a diagnosis. Managing of ophthalmic conditions. Working well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Collaborate with other specialists including flight surgeons. Operating equipment such as ophthalmoscopes slit lamps and lenses. Making high level judgments due to complexities of aviation medicine field. Educate patients to understand their medical condition. Supporting health promotion and disease prevention activities. Be prepared to deploy for specialist opinion as required by KFAA operations.

2.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbsp PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Ophthalmologist will be responsible for annual eye screening checks on cadets in KFAA. He will also be expected to perform emergency treatment for cadets and soldiers attached to KFAA. Monthly statistics of cliental should be submitted to the Director of medical center. Monthly stock taking with ordering of outstanding equipment and medication should be performed. Annually review of equipment to determine upgrade or replacement of outdate stock. The Ophthalmologist will have weekly meeting with the Director of medical center to discuss relevant issue. He should be able to perform ongoing training of his colleagues to ensure adequate professional conduct. The Ophthalmologist has to attend annual continuous professional education to stay in touch with current development.
