Role Title GSS Technical Consultant



Reporting to Regional Engineering Manager GSS Solutions Team



Direct Reports None





Role Purpose

To support the customer solution architecting process providing postsales technical expertise and implementation skill in the practice area.



Key Responsibilities

bull Support the Principal Consultant in designing a service and product solution based on the customer's business and technical requirements

bull Participate in the configuration installation and documentation of Hitachi solutions

bull Establish a dialogue with the customer to achieve trusted technical adviser status

bull Provide technical expertise to gather requirements from the customer

bull Identify and explain benefits of the solution to customer technical and business personnel

bull Identify opportunities and communicate them to manager and account teams

bull Develop deep expertise on Hitachi products and current and emerging technologies in the relevant practice area

bull By request accompany Account Managers and other members of sales teams on customer visits to

o Gather customer requirements

o Increase services sales

o Explain the services portfolio of the practice and its value to customers

o Qualify services opportunities in the practice area and assist Account Managers in selecting the appropriate service to meet their customer's needs

bull Agree deliverables and timescales with the project manager and deliver in accordance with this agreement

bull Identify potential issues preventing the successful delivery of services or solutions and inform the Project Manager appropriately

bull Participate in skills development and maintenance planning with Practice Principal

bull Make appropriate use of Solutions and Services tools

bull Prepare and distribute White Papers relating to engagements

bull Comply with Hitachi policies and guidelines



Qualifications

Key Skills Knowledge and Experience

bull Track record of success in storagerelated consulting and solutions design

bull At least five years experience within one of the three practice areas within HDS a similar competitor organisation end user or IT consultancy services provider

bull Proven ability to lead and coordinate multiskilled teams customer third party and HDS people.

bull An understanding of the EMEA storage market

bull An understanding of the market conditions and requirements in the practice specialty area

bull Good knowledge of HDS products and services related to the practice area

bull Practical 'hands on' experience of the delivery of practicerelated services knowledge of the techniques sensitivities and issues that arise. Knowledge of IT development processes and IT technologies

bull Experience in designing and implementing and documenting business continuity solutions

bull Experience in designing implementing and documenting storage management solutions

bull Detailed technical knowledge of Hitachi storage management products

bull Familiarity with tiered storage solutions and data lifecycle management

bull Experience in designing implementing and documenting archiving solutions
