Health Safety Advisor

The Health amp Safety Advisor role is accountable to assist the Health amp Safety Manager in the leadership of the team and for ensuring that Health amp Safety policies and procedures are effectively embedded across projects sites and office environments in compliance with local and international rules and regulations. The role holder must take a 'hands on' approach to all aspects of the role.



Responsibilities

Business Leadership

bull Assist in the leadership and support of the team

bull Carry out Health and Safety inspections of project sites and company facilities as directed

bull Produce timely accurate and detailed reports of inspections including time and date stamped photographs

bull To advise the client and WSP management of any major noncompliances immediately

bull Carry out Health and Safety audits as required and produce an audit report

bull Review and comment on contractors Method Statements and Risk Assessments for compliance

bull Undertake tool box talks on site as and when required to promote Health and Safety Awareness

bull Maintain a current knowledge of Local and International Health and Safety Rules and Regulations

bull Lead by example and always adhere to the best Health and Safety practices

bull Ensure your time is utilised efficiently and effectively at all times across your projects

bull Communicate effectively with site personnel and colleagues to promote Health and Safety at Work

bull Support the delivery of training and awareness sessions as required

bull Attend and contribute too team and project meetings as required

bull Ensure QMS and Project Lifecycle compliance across the team and projects

bull Ensure that Health amp Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies

bull Input into the recruitment and selection process

bull Contribute to the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions as required

bull Contribute to the development and implementation of the business unit BU strategy including the companies approach to sustainability

bull Attend team meetings and lead project team meetings. Cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from team

bull Complete the companies elearning courses

bull Provide regular project status and financial performance updates to line manager



Business Development

bull Contribute to business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions

bull Actively develop external and internal client relationships

bull Proactively co sell other WSP ME services and where applicable the wider business

bull Provide technical leadership to respond to prequalification documents Request for Price RFPs and other client inquiries



Project Leadership

bull To ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met

bull Support the accurate and timely recognition of revenue for own projects and projects led by direct reports



Technical

bull Conduct and oversee audits and reviews of the environment practices and behaviours across site and offices

bull Lead the development of policies and review compliance as required

bull Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of Health amp Safety on site and in the office environment

bull Analyse statistics of all accidents near misses dangerous occurrence with the view of making recommendations Lead the investigation and close out of all safety actions for investigations or inspections

bull Issue safety notice for unsafe work and follow through for immediate rectification

bull Prepare and submit Health amp Safety reports to the client as required

bull Provide support and guidance to Technical Working Group TWG

bull Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline and understand and appreciate the basic technical principles and drivers of other disciplines

bull Develop the capabilities of direct reports



Requirements

bull Degree qualified with a minimum 5 years post graduate experience

bull Chartered Member of associated Professional body or Member giving eligibility to become Chartered

bull Regional Experience preferred

bull NEBOSH International Certificate
