Job Description

Plans directs controls and supervises the activities of a team of professional Oil Spill Engineers and Foremen to ensure full readiness to respond immediately to offshore oil spills to minimize impact and consequences. Supports and provides proper guidance to the field management in the preparation development and implementation of the oil spill emergency scenarios tactic and organization. Initiates updates and reviews procedures related to oil spill as deemed necessary in coordination with other parties.

Detailed Description

Understands and promotes the companyrsquos health safety amp environmental policy and objectives performs work in accordance with the companyrsquos established rules regulations and approved procedures intervenes to stop unsafe acts and practices and is accountable for the wellbeing and safety of own self and others including all contracted labor force.

Plans directs and actively participates in the ongoing training and development of own self and subordinates with special emphasis on nationals. This includes assessing employeesrsquo training and development needs directing the preparation of structured development programs monitoring progress and counseling trainees on alternative career paths and job profiles available in the company

Participates in the update of the field Facilities Response Plan FRP as appropriate to the offshore oil spill related issues.

Leads and conducts studies aimed at improvement of oil spill response practices and performance enhancements in coordination with concerned parties.

Provides immediate and active response to oil spill emergencies and provides expert oil spill advice to the divisionrsquos management in the event of oil spill

Manages the oil spill team to ensure delivery of work as per the plan with full compliance with the company rules and regulations.

Initiate update and review procedures related to oil spill as deemed necessary in coordination with other parties.

Executes special studies requested by management or selfgenerated leads and conducts studies aimed at improvement of oil spill response practices and performance enhancements in coordination with concerned parties.

Mobilizes and directs the oil spill team to contain the spill at the shortest possible time to minimize losses and safeguard people.

Coordinates pollution control containment and recovery collection and final disposal activities during emergencies

Supports adequatesuitable training and develop training packages for responders

Directs proactive actions in order to prevent oil spills from occurring and minimize the environmental impact when they occur

Reviews operations for proper spill prevention measures

Oversees and provides environmental precaution on subsea flowline repair operation by specialized contractors

Controls and develops site specific tactic plan

Assesses the adequacy of manpower available to handle Tier 1 Oil spill response

Assesses and ensures the effectiveness of response equipment and personnel through drills and exercises

Conducts joint exercises with 3rd parties COMPANY and other agencies to assess the response time and capabilities during oil spill emergencies

Directs the development of oil spill response guidance and procedures

Sets budget targets for oil spill equipment and other oil spill related expenditures

Conducts safety and pollution control audits of facilities and operations to ensure compliance with COMPANY HSE procedures and other regulatory requirements.

Performs any other related duties as and when required at the companyrsquos discretion.

Job Requirements

B. Sc. in Engineering discipline Degree in Environmental studies or equivalent

International Maritime Organization IMO 2 as minimum
