JOB DETAILS: Position Summary: The Specialist is accountable to the consultant and / or chairperson of the department. Responsible for organizing, monitoring and maintaining the services provided within the department in order to achieve the highest possible level of patient care with optimum utilization of the available resources. Principal Accountabilities: Adheres to the policies, guidelines, plans and programs of the Medical Organization. Performs various patient-care clinical interventions, makes daily rounds for inpatients in the department and evaluates patient care-related activities as assigned by the consultant and / or chairperson of the department. Provides services in specialized clinics and performs on-call duties as assigned by his supervisors. Keeps the consultant informed of the progress of patients under his / her relevant consultant's care. Carries out practical training and academic responsibilities and scientific research as directed by the department head / chairperson. Assumes supervisory responsibility for the performance of his / her subordinates in the assigned department or service. Confers and discusses patient progress reports and any concerns related to management of the patient with the consultant attending the patient. Participates with the consultant in the out patient and emergency services provided to the patients. Performs minor interventions and participates in major intervention procedures. Provides care to old and new patients in the specialized clinics as assigned by the consultant, and presents new cases when required, to the consultant. Participates health education activities within the department or unit. Performs other duties as assigned / directed by his superiors. Responds to consultations requests and call. Prepares medical reports on patients under the consultant's care.
