Dr. Yongsheng Shi in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics UC Irvine School of Medicine is seeking applicants for postdoctoral position to study mammalian mRNA alternative polyadenylation and its regulation in stem cells. The lab uses biochemical and proteomic approaches to analyze the molecular mechanisms of mRNA 3' processing Shi et al. 2009 Molecular Cell 3336576. They have also developed genomic tools including highthroughput sequencingbased methods for studying alternative polyadenylation in stem cell differentiation and cancer development Shepard et al. 2011 RNA Yao et al 2012 PNAS.
Highly motivated individuals with a recent Ph.D. in Microbiology Biochemistry or related fields are encouraged to apply.
