The Riyadh Metro project is a consortium led by Bechtel which includes Almabani General Contractors Consolidated Contractors Company and Siemens. The consortium will be responsible for the design construction train cars signalling electrification and integration of Lines 1 and 2 of the new Riyadh Metro rail system.

Line 1 will stretch from north to south across Riyadh covering 24 miles 38km. It will include 22 stations and four transfer stations where it will connect with other new metro lines. Much of Line 1 will be underground. In contrast Line 2 will be built mostly on a raised strip in the median of the planned freeway. This line will run east to west and will extend more than 15.7 miles 25km with 13 stations and three transfer stations. The new lines will feature stations powered by renewable energy and fully automatic trains.

The contract is the largest engineering procurement and construction EPC contract in Bechtel's history and these lines along with four others will form the backbone of Riyadh's new public transportation network.



SUMMARY

Provides supervision to site materials coordination personnel at the project site to ensure that materials are provided on time and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work. Ensures that discipline Materials Management Coordinators provide accurate reporting of all materials required for work package installation. Monitors the work processes and the effectiveness of materials personnel in providing timely and accurate distribution of materials to Construction andor Sub Contractor installation locations. Develops project workhour estimates and monitors against approved budgets. Assists in establishing longrange personnel objectives and in developing personnel. Provides materials coordination support to project functional groups.

  • Provides operational direction to materials management coordinators and other personnel as designated which are assigned to field materials management activities.

    • Maintains direct working relationship with Project Procurement Field Project Controls discipline Field Engineers Field Procurement Automation Support Construction Superintendents Sub Contractors and Customer personnel to ensure that Construction personnel are provided with materials to support the completion of construction work.
      
      
      
      ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
      
      

      
      
      1. Supervises a team of materials coordination personnel on a project. Conducts annual performance reviews and recommends salary actions classification changes terminations and transfers.
      
      
      2. Develops project workhour estimates for Materials Coordination function. Monitors project work and the expenditure of work hours within approved budgets.
      
      
      3. Indoctrinates newly assigned Materials Coordinators to the requirements and procedures of the global business unit project and Customer. Monitors personnel to ensure they receive appropriate training and development to satisfy job performance criteria and company personnel development objectives.
      
      
      4. Assists the Materials Manager in establishing longrange personnel objectives and in developing personnel to fill materials management requirements.
      
      
      5. Implements Materials Management Plan with respect to applicable commodity groups within area of responsibility.
      
      
      6. Ensures adherence to the Material Responsibility Matrix by all responsible parties.
      
      
      7. Utilizes the materials components of the project Automation Plan used by functional groups to monitor related data transfers between the functional groups.
      
      
      8. Implements the planned construction activities and work packaging structure on the project through coordination with Field Engineering Construction andor Sub Contractors and Project Controls.
      
      
      9. Determines with the functional groups the best strategy for fabricated systems that provides the most overall value on the project.
      
      
      10. Implements planned inventory control mechanisms such as minmax and bagandtag and uses Bechtel Procurement System BPS tools to ensure construction material requirements are met.
      
      
      11. Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions rework contingency or workaround plans.
      
      
      12. Participates in Construction andor Sub Contractor planning meetings to be fully aware of installation plans and priorities.
      
      
      13. Coordinates with warehouse personnel for materials to be issued direct to the installation area rather than being controlled in storage.

          • Advanced knowledge of Field Procurement operations related to the receipt storage and control of materials on a project.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of Field Engineering disciplines work processes and the deliverables produced.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of Bechtel Procurement System BPS including drawing takeoff input LookAhead Viewer input of requisitions receipt storage and issue of materials.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of Project Bechtel Standard Applications Programs BSAP and their modes of data interfacing with BPS and each other.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of vendor fabricator contractor Customer and other outside data systems and how those systems interact with BPS.
          
          
          • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of work packaging prebuy methodology and materials status reporting.
          
          
          • Advanced knowledge of applicable Bechtel policies instructions and Procurement procedures and guidelines.
          
          
          • Basic experience skill andor training in supervising workload distribution and execution of the work as well as personnel interviewing selection salary planning classification changes performance evaluation career counseling when delegated training terminations and transfers.
          
          
          • Basic skill in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups primarily Engineering Construction and Project Management.
