Area Superintendent

Assigned to a field construction organization in a project management capacity. Responsible for reviewing reporting inspecting and coordinating operations within assigned discipline or area on the BOROUGE 3POLDPE site. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors performance are in compliance with specifications schedules and safety standards. Oversees general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions to ensure contractors are performing to industry standards.



JOB DIMENSIONS

A. Supervision Received

iuml130sectReceives technical and operational supervision from construction manager or other designated supervising superintendent.

B. Supervision Exercised

iuml130sectProvides technical and administrative direction to subordinate superintendents field staff and others as assigned.

iuml130sectProvides oversight and direction to construction contractor. Acts as representative for owner.

C. Contacts

iuml130sectContacts are normally limited to jobsite contractor supervisory personnel.



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1.Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area.

2. Coordinates established area operational plans. Reviews Scheduled work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by crafts and subcontractors. Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.

3.Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.

4.Reviews reports and forecasts including summary of construction progress craft personnel forecasts and expenditures forecast from Contractor. Provides input for reports to Owner..

5.Reviews use of tools and consumables on site and counsels contractor to ensure that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.

6.Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.

7.Responsible for the implementation of Bechtel and Borouge corporateproject policies procedures and instructions within assigned operations.

8.Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas. Acts as Borouge resident representatives as instructed by construction management.

9.Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.

10.Ensures that Bechtel and localnational safety codes requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility. Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into every aspect of construction operations. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings.



JOB KNOWLEDGE

iuml130sectKnowledge of a single or multidiscipline construction or engineering operation.

iuml130sectKnowledge of Bechtel's Zero Accident Philosophy.

iuml130sectKnowledge of the Project ESampH Handbook the Supervisors ESampH Manual the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes. Borouge procedures must be reviewed and implemented.

iuml130sectKnowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.

iuml130sectKnowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.

iuml130sectKnowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures SWPPs.

iuml130sectComputer literate in word processing spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program BSAP standards.

iuml130sectDemonstrated leadership in a teambased environment.

iuml130sectKnowledge of the use of subcontracts and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.

iuml130sectExperience working with supervising and administering subcontractors andor Direct Hire workforce.

Knowledge is normally acquired through

iuml130sectA recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or

iuml130sectSpecialized courses in construction technology and management andor

iuml130sectPrior practical work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.

iuml130sectMust proficiently read write and speak technical and daily English.

iuml130sectMust be familiar with middle east and Asian cultures.



Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities extensive walking in and around a construction site climbing ladders climbing scaffolding working on elevated platforms working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project enteregress. Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment PPE required for each assigned task i.e. harness life vest lift buckets etc.
