Job Specification Job Summary Provide macroscopic examination (gross) of the specimens as well as limited administrative help and support other pathologists of the grade of Specialist and Consultants in AP Division. Common Responsibilities Performance of adequate gross (macroscopic) examination of all specimens under the supervision of the attending consultant. On call duty within hospital premises as directed by divisional head or chairperson. Perform routine activities as directed by divisional head or chairperson. Perform microscopic examination under consultant supervision only for MD holders PA. Engage in clinical Research. Assist in preparation for accreditation inspections (CAP, Joint Commission). Any other duty as entrusted by the divisional head or chairperson. Performance of Administrative, Budgetary, Supervisory and Teaching. Assisting in the organization and coordination of CPD, CME and Anatomic Pathology study days and conferences. Obtaining pertinent clinical information and history, including scans, x rays and laboratory data. Obtaining patients medical record/ chart(s) and other pertinent data for review with attending pathologist. Photographing the organs, microscopic slides and other pertinent materials. Performing duties related to administrative maintenance of anatomic pathology protocols; photographic and microscopic slides; and assuring the completion of medical coding. Specific Responsibilities Direct liaisons with clinicians regarding issue concerning anatomical pathology cases. Education of AP/ other rotating residents / medical students/other as directed by divisional head or chairperson. Actively participate in CME and educational activities. Participate in Quality Control activities as directed by divisional head or chairperson. Responsible for gross examination/ surgical cut-up of all neoplastic and non-neoplastic surgical and biopsy specimens. Responsible for gross examination, surgical cut-up of intra-operative consultation specimens (frozen section). Perform microscopic examination under consultant supervision only for MD holders PA. Performing duties relating to the administrative maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports and data, including filing of reports, protocols, photographic data of slides, assisting in the completion of specimen coding and billing. Gathering and organizing clinical information and data pertinent to the preparation of summarization of clinical history. Assuring proper maintenance of equipment and provision of adequate stock levels. Selecting preparing and submitting appropriate tissue sections for frozen section analysis.Obtaining biological specimens such as blood, tissue and toxicological material for studies including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, etc.
