CMT Technical Manager Iraq Dubai Based

Background



This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly created Construction Materials Testing CMT business line at a midlevel within the growing Fugro Iraq business. The business line will support the growing construction sector in Iraq particularly for clients in the oil and gas industry. The position based in Fugro Middle East’s Dubai office will work closely with the Business Line Manager and the CMT Project Manager to lead develop manage and execute all technical aspects and developments of the service.



Key Accountabilities

• Working with the senior leadership team take a leading role in establishing and growing the CMT business line.

  • Help develop the CMT business plan technical elements and take ownership of their delivery.

    • Manage the daytoday technical control of the business line including equipment forecasting technical performance periodic reporting and planning in line with the company’s and region’s reporting schedule and in order to meet key business objectives.

      • Ensure compliance with company’s QHSE policies and procedures.
      
      
      • Input technical requirements into all business development aspects of the CMT business line including identifying and seizing opportunities to develop business respond to tenders liaise with prospective clients and manage all commercial activities of the CMT service line.
      
      
      • Collate track and present agreed technical KPIs to maintain technical proficiency and superiority at all times.
      
      
      • Work with senior management to prepare and followup quotations and tenders for submission negotiate to win bids plan general execution of works select project teams and management make site visits and nominate subcontractors.
      
      
      • Together with the CMT Project Manager manage all project delivery aspects from enquiry to execution and closeout.
      
      
      • Together with the CMT Project Manager ensure the timely preparation and submission of testing execution plans method statements schedules QHSE plans and risk assessments to satisfy stringent Client HSE and technical requirements in line with Company procedures.
      
      
      • Scheduling and allocation of equipment and resources in line with specific project requirements.
      
      
      • Preparation and review of laboratory reports.
      
      
      • Attend and conduct regular internalexternal technical project meetings kickoff meetings and safety sessions.
      
      
      • Develop positive relations with government departments subcontractors equipment and service providers to ensure timely availability competitive rates and agreed actions.
      
      
      • Continuous communication and liaison with Clients operations and laboratory departments and other project stakeholders to ensure timely submission of deliverables and Client satisfaction.
      
      
      • Manage including coaching and training direct reports in the CMT business line to ensure the highest operational technical and HSE quality standards are met and to increase competence and improve performance on a continual basis.

        Qualifications required
        
        

        
        
        • Engineering degree preferably Civil Engineering or technical qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical engineering.

          Skills experience required to do the job
          
          

          
          
          • Minimum 15 years in similar role including commercial technical and practical project management experience in the contracting industry.
          
          
          • Keen technical awareness and CMT laboratory management experience.
          
          
          • Selfmotivated proactive committed and flexible with strong problemsolving skills.
          
          
          • Ability to work effectively in a multinational and multicultural work environment.
          
          
          • Excellent verbal and written skills both internally and with Client English is essential
