The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences Environmental Science Program at Qatar University Doha invites applications for a full time position at the level of assistant or associate to begin September 2014. The position is three years renewable. The applicant must be able to teach under graduate and graduate courses in marine Science chemical oceanography and climate change.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Marine chemistry or a relevant Scientific discipline at the time of hire with research experience in the field of chemical oceanography .

Duties amp Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following

1. Teach general courses in marine oceanography marine sciences using multidisciplinary approach.

2. Employ modern tools of multidisciplinary science to develop research area in Marine science to understand issues related to the ocean system such as oceanatmosphere and or ocean land interactions and biogeochemical processes and modeling

3. Preparing research proposals and augment dissemination of research findings for publication in internationally reputable peer reviewed journals.

4. Supervise students research projects and thesis

Selection Criteria

Preference will be given to candidates who have

1. Excellent teaching record

2. Track record publication

Competencies

1. Demonstrated excellent teaching record at established international universities and higher education institutions in Marine Sciences

2. Demonstrated strong research record and publications in marine biology phytoplankton and productivity.

3. Proficiency in spoken and written English

Qualifications

1. A Ph.D. in Marine chemistry or chemical Oceanography

2. Teaching experience 5years or more

3. Publication with clear research agenda
