Senior GeologistLog Analyst

WRS are searching for an experienced candidate to work in this senior level Geologist role based in Texas.

The Client

The company is an international energy company with operations in many countries. Building on over 30 years of experience from oil and gas production the company is looking at bringing in someone to work as a Senior Geologist.

Suitable Applicants

MSc Degree in Geology or Geoscience related subject is required

10 15 years of US onshore industry experience as a petroleum geologistlog analyst working directly with Geologist Geophysicists and engineers in a team environment.

Experience in US onshore unconventional shale play is essential

Entrepreneurial thinking toward resource play oil and gas opportunity development

Creative strong technical skills ability to work well with others and a desire to make a difference on potentially large impact opportunities by providing strong petrophysical support and expertise

Proven track record as a hydrocarbon finder while simultaneously supporting exploration drilling programs

Strong ability to collaborate closely with subsurface operations geology reservoir engineering and drilling teams to develop and execute formationevaluation programs that are also safe and costeffective

Your key duties will include

Incorporating log core petrophysical seismic production and other data to analyse well results

Assisting in planning new well locations and assess further play potential while performing integrated petrophysical interpretation of all petrophysical data types including wireline and quotwhiledrillingquot logs core analysis and formation tests

Integrate sequence stratigraphic principles subsurface information and petropyhsical analysis into intepretations with the use of crosssections maps seismic displays visualization techniques fault mapping etc

Regional exploration mapping approval of proposed well locations providing geological support to development decisions recommending operations to optimize production increasing recovery and adding reserves

Basin modelling building a regional structural and statigraphic framework and developing a working understanding of the regional petroleum system

Core description well log analysis and correlation and the ability to edit and QC log core and formation pressure data

Presentations of assessments to team and management
