Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of the Proteomics CoreRProgrammerStatisticianData Analyst independently researches statistical methodology appropriate to the needs of proteomic data analysis. Implements methodology from the literature in the R environment and packages them respectively integrates them into existing inhouse Rpackages. Packages functionality and data in R packages apanying publications the core is involved in. Performs a variety of activities related to the planning and performance of research involving retrieval analysis and display of proteomic data. Works as part of a team to establish and maintain a high throughput research laboratory. Performs independent research activities based on requirements identified by project needs independently interfaces with clients of the proteomics core.
Position Activities
1. Identifies shorings in analysis and presentation of proteomic data in cooperation with the Manager and Director of the Proteomics Core and researches the most appropriate tools to remedy.
2. Analyzes abroad range of proteomics data including qualitative and quantitative wholeproteome analyzes affinity purifications etc.
3. Develops documents and packages work flows and scripts in collaboration with research scientist for the analysis and display of proteomics data.
4. Develops and documents methods to improve data annotation and result synthesis using freely available data.
5. Maintains knowledge of large proteomicsmunity software and statistical analysis projects implements latest analysis algorithms and develops new methods.
6. Trains other employees in the use of bioinformatics technology to empower them and ensure smooth lab flow.
7. Monitors literature and presents noteworthy publications in regular journal clubs. Presents methodologydevelopments at local and international conferences.
8. Performs other job related duties as required.
MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS
- B.S. degree required Master's degree M.S. in Statistics or a closely related field strongly preferred.
- Indepth knowledge of R in general and packaging of R code specifically is a prerequisite.
- Prior bioinformatic experience is required.
- 35 years experience
- Prior experience in an academic research environment is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to develop and maintain programscript code conforming to stringent formatting and documentation requirements is expected.
- Applicant should befortable in Linux Win dows and Macintosh environments.
PREFERREDREQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge in other programming languages such as Python Perl C is very helpful.
- Prior exposure to the following tool set is advisable
- RStudio IDE www.rstudioide
- R packages testthat devtools roxygen2 ggplot2
- git distributed version control system www.gitscm.
- Doctoral Degree in statistics or a closely related field.PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
