Facility Head Dietitian

Job Specification Job Summary Responsible for a fully equipped facility having its own kitchen with complete production of therapeutic food and enteral feed service Assist the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department in developing policies and setting the frame work related to nutrition and dietetic services. Strategically manage and oversee patient service activities for a facility through the planning and organization of clinical and administrative functions including finance and human resources. Coordinate and direct work flow among the facility dietician teams including adults, pediatrics and the administrative support service, ensuring the delivery of best practice nutrition and dietetic services according to policies, goals and targets. Common Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge and application of mission, vision, and values. Comply with policies and procedures, and in particular infection control, safety and quality management. Responsible for all HR matters of the nutrition and dietetic service within the facility in liaison with the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate including but not limited to leadership, training and development, succession planning, recruitment, conflict resolution, managing performance and sickness management. Coordinate and direct work flow among dietitian supervisors and dietitians. Enhance relations with nursing and medical staff as part of a multidisciplinary team work ethic. Represent the department on related hospital clinical committees. Update the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate about the status of nutrition and dietetic services in the facility on a regular basis. Identify and implement the required training and education programs for his/her staff and discuss with the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate to ensure coordination across HMC’s multiple sites. Attend professional meetings and conferences to keep abreast of current practices and new trends in nutrition. Deputize for the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate when required. Perform other duties as requested. Specific Responsibilities Ensure that all clinical aspects of patients are exercised according to policies and procedure. Set the frame work of clinical nutrition practice in the facilities wards and clinics. Provide guidance and technical assistance to dietitian supervisors and dieticians. Keep updated statistics for patients on enteral feed and different therapeutic food in his/her facility as a base for the calculation of tender’s quantities. Estimate the required quantities and types of enteral feed and therapeutic food items required for the facility and submit to the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate to include in the main tenders. Prepare the facility budget and submit it to the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate Monitor the financial performance of the facility’s dietetic and nutrition service against the budget and take remedial action where necessary in liaison with the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate. Ensure that targets for performance indicators are monitored and take necessary remedial action to ensure that long-term operational plans are achieved. In cooperation with the Director of Dietetics and Nutrition Department- Corporate: Assist in developing policies related to nutrition and dietetic services. Assist in planning the training program for newly employed staff, intern students, and/or trainees. Institute changes in techniques or procedures for more efficient service delivery Monitor and evaluate the performance of dietitians supervisors, dietitians, and other dietetic staff, ensuring that all departmental staff have regular 1:1’s and at least 6 monthly performance reviews Review and approve staff appraisals and performance ratings and ensure that the annual appraisal of dietitian supervisors is undertaken and submitted to HR. Review and approve work schedules of personnel. Prepare articles for publication in professional journals, and conduct lectures to educate the public on nutrition issues.
