Assistant Director Strategic Partnerships

Role and Context


  • The role holder is responsible for focusing on identifying and developing partnerships within the major global and leading local entities in order to support the Commercial and New Business teams that will drive value for the Group.





    • In addition the role holder will manage and execute regional events focused on the telecom sector and will undertake and manage the market intelligence for partnerships.

    • Ooredoo Group has ambitious goals to build partnerships with leading local and global entities in order to support the commercial roadmaps as well as the Group's vision and to improve customer experience into the fast moving markets of devices apps mobile content VoIP internet players and regional competitors. The Group has recently signed partnerships with local and global companies including Facebook Google Skype and Twitter.

    • To support the Group Strategy there is a requirement for a more coordinated approach to strategic partnerships with global regional and local entities. This role supports that through focusing on developing partnerships regionally locally and globally.




    • Role Accountabilities


      • Innovate identify structure negotiate and execute new partnerships that will drive commercial value lower costs increased revenue brand association etc.

      • Manage the scope goals value and deliverables for some existing partnerships across the Group Operating Companies to ensure they are in line with the overall strategic direction and the expected commercial value returns.

      • Develop build and maintain relationships with Internet softwareapp developers and OTT players Google Microsoft Facebook Twitter Amazon Yahoo etc. in order to position Ooredoo Group as a partner of choice in these areas.

      • Create and organize major meetings or forums in line with our strategy which will position Ooredoo Group as subject matter experts in the industry and to our Operators. Undertake the planning and organization of the Events with the Events team within Marketing Operations and within the OpCos as necessary for supporting purposes.

      • In conjunction with the legal teams develop strong partnership agreements and ensure they are utilised to best effect protecting Ooredoo interests and providing the expected returns.

      • Develop and implement a system to track the commercial impact of existing partnerships. Develop reporting structures to assess performance metrics and provide accurate performance data.

      • Work with Ooredoo Group Operating Companies OpCos to ensure their partnership requirements are captured analysed and actioned across partnership areas.

      • Create reports on best practices and impacts of trends andor technologies for the Group and its Operators.

      • Manage relationships and set expectations with key internal stakeholders including product development marketing IT Legal operator partners vendors and management.




      • Experience and Qualifications


        • Minimum 12 years total experience of which 6 years of experience in telecom software consulting or IT sectors and 2 years in an externally facing partnership sales or BD role

        • Strong track record in business development product development events planning andor market research

        • Proven knowledge of negotiating partnership agreements

        • Proven experience in working for an organization with subsidiaries partners and projects across an international footprint.

        • Product development and partnership experience in the MENA region a plus

        • Understanding of the key trends technologies and companies in today's mobile communications landscape

        • Bachelor Degree in BABS or related area

        • Fluent in English Arabic or French language a plus but not mandatory
