Consultants LOCUMS Emergency Medicine - HMC Global Medical Recruiting seeking international Medical Staff on behalf of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). HMC is an international healthcare system which delivers a comprehensive range of acute healthcare services to the population of Qatar. HMC is large and complex; currently employing 16,000 clinical staff across eight hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI). Candidates with qualifications obtained in WESTERN countries (such as UK, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Canada and USA), ARAB countries and EUROPEAN countries are invited to apply. Contract package: Hamad Medical Corporation will provide you with a round-trip ticket and accommodation while Doha. An honorarium of + - 25 000 QAR per month will be given for your locum service. Please note that the offer is for locum service only in JULY /AUGUST 2014 and not for permanent placement. The amount you will receive is an honorarium. This is considered a probationary period either for temporary service or evaluation. Minimum requirements: EDUCATION: Internationally recognized tier one Board Certification in Emergency Medicine. EXPERIENCE: Post graduate experience of four years post fellowship emergency management. Preferred Experience: Consultant or Senior Consultant of a large Emergency Department. COMPUTER SKILLS: Experienced in the Microsoft Office Suite, preferably with exposure to electronic clinical data and tracking systems. AGE: As per hospital policy only candidates up to the age of 49 will be considered. GENDER: Male and Female. LANGUAGE SKILLS: English essential and Arabic preferred. LICENSURE: Licensed in country of origin. BOARD CERTIFICATION: Tier one Emergency Medicine Board. Job Specifications: Scope of supervision: The consultant exercises full authority within the agreed duties and responsibilities for management and operation of the Emergency Department. Position Summary: The consultant provides leadership and management for the emergency department. He/she assists the chairman in organizing, monitoring, and maintaining the implementation of services provided within the department in order to achieve the highest possible level of patient care. He/she is responsible for both clinical and assigned administrative issues Key Accountabilities: Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the emergency department. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients presenting to the emergency department. Adhering to the policies, guidelines, plans and programs of HMC. Contribution towards the provision of teaching and training of all relevant staff. Active participation in both departmental and hospital matters concerning Clinical and administrative governance issues. To have responsibility for, and actively participate in, your continuing professional development (CPD). Specialty Specific Roles: 1.A detailed job plan and weekly time table will be agreed with the individual Consultants, integrating existing capacity and acknowledging the need to focus on the delivery of a core service. The weekly timetable will be based on direct patient care (DPU) and supporting professional activities (SPA). The SOA will include duties such as teaching, administrative work, auditing etc. the DPC and SPA split will be tailored to the service need of the department and the interests and background of individual consultants. This will typically be 70% DPC and 30% SPA. Job plans will be reviewed at least annually, or more frequently, as and when the need arises. 2.The clinical assessment, resuscitation and timely onward referral, admission or discharge of all types of patients attending the Emergency Department. Consultants are expected to be based on the shop floor when rostered for direct patient care (DPC) activities. 3.Collaborative, team work and flexible work practice is expected from all consultants to support the provision of high quality of care to all types of patients and all areas of the department. 4.To provide professional and effective leadership and to be immediately available to give a Consultant opinion, guidance and advice on any patient seen in the Emergency Department when rostered on clinical duty. 5.To supervise ED residents and specialists medical staff during working hours. There will be a clear handover of clinical commitment to another consultant on those occasions where a consultant rostered for Direct Patient Care (DPC) needs to attend a meeting, in order to pre-empt tensions between Direct Patient Care (DPC) and Supporting Professional Activity (SPA). 6.Participates in various departmental groups and committees for the upgrading and improvement of the services and organisation of work within the department and interface relationship with other departments and services within HMC. 7.Participates in the planning and implementation of the department development projects and manpower training programs for the medical, technical and nursing staff. 8.Participates in the planning, organizing and follow up of medical education and research activities. 9.Writes and approves medical reports for patients when requested. 10.Performs other duties as directed by the Chairperson of the Department. 11.Participates in various departmental committees for the upgrading of services and organisation of work within the department. 12.Participates in the planning and implementation of the department development projects and manpower training programmes for the medical, technical and nursing staff. 13.Participates in the planning, organizing and follow up of medical education and research activities. 14.Participates in the assessment and updating of the department’s drug requirements, medical supplies and equipment needs. 15.Writes and approves medical reports for patients when requested. 16.Responds to departmental consultation requests and calls as appropriate. 17.Performs other duties as directed by the Chairperson of the Department.
